External Communications

Home & Marine can install a wide range of communications platforms available for both voice and data.

VSAT
The preferred platform for data. A stabilised satellite antenna provides two way communication in most cruising areas of the world. This is a scalable system with different sizes of antenna, hardware and service provider packages to provide the necessary bandwidth for the vessel’s requirements. A number of analogue telephone lines can also be connected for voice or fax.

Satcom
Another satellite system for voice, fax and data but one that can be used in all ocean areas of the world.  This system would be used when out of reach of any VSAT or GSM coverage.

GSM
A number of maritime GSM telephone units can be provided for cost effective voice communication when inshore. Data and fax can also be connected.

GSM Extender 
Home & Marine can provide a GSM repeater system so that standard personal mobile telephones can still be used onboard where reception is weak due to the vessel’s construction.

GSM Offshore 
Home & Marine can also provide a system that allows personal mobile telephones to be used when not in range of shore based GSM cells. This connects a mobile to a series of onboard antennas to the VSAT system.

When in port 
Home & Marine can provide integration for landline connection of voice and data in marinas. Some marinas also provide Wi-Fi for data connections when in port.
